Description
The Ibanez Talman series was originally launched back in 1994, but it was only after these guitars were discontinued in 1998 that people really grew attached to them. Fortunately, the Talman has been brought back to life! And the TMB105 is an affordable and stylish 5-string bass that punches well above its weight.
Comfortable Build
While the Talman may not be a conventional bass shape, neither really fitting in to traditional or modern stylings, it has still been carefully designed for comfort.
Made from Poplar, the Ibanez TMB105’s body is lightweight but adds a lot of low-end thump to the sound. The Maple neck, adorned with a Jatoba fretboard, adds a bit of snap to your tone – keeping the balance in check.
Versatile Electronics
Simplicity is key to the Talman’s appeal; it’s a real workhorse! While Ibanez are known for their very powerful active electronics, they also know when they need to tone it down.
The TMB105 has a very simple P/J pickup configuration from Ibanez’s Dynamix series. These were designed after classic passive electronics from the ’60s and ’70s, offering a warm and retro character. The 2-band EQ section gives some legroom to control the instrument’s overall sound, letting you adjust the high and low frequencies.
