Tonal flexibility

The SRD905F-BTL is equipped with Nordstrand’s “Big Break” pickups, which bring a powerful split coil design to a traditional soapbar-style pickup. This combination offers a full-bodied, aggressive tonal texture with clarity that’s great for performances of all genres, from metal and jazz to pop. To further enhance your tonal possibilities, the SRD905F-BTL features an Ibanez 2-band EQ that lets you to shape the magnetic pickups.

Acoustic tone in electric form

Whilst it comes loaded with magnetic pickups for the classic electric sounds everyone needs, the SRD905F also has a few unique features that recreate the natural, mellow sound of an upright bass. Its AeroSilk piezo pickups, half semi-hollow body, and active piezo tone control alongside the Ibanez 2-band EQ let you dial in the sound as both an electric and upright-like bass. This means you have incredibly flexible sound that’s suitable for everything from classical and jazz performance to the most extreme metal. The AeroSilk MR5 bridge is specifically designed to work harmoniously with the piezo pickups, enhancing the acoustic “upright” quality of the tone. The unique saddles of the bridge contribute to the overall resonance and sustain of the instrument, ensuring that each note rings out with clarity and definition whilst maintaining tuning stability.

Performing on dark stages can be a challenge, but with the SRD905F-BTL’s luminescent side dot position marks, you’ll always be able to see your fretboard position. These side dots glow in the dark, making it easier than ever to navigate your way around the neck during live performances.
