The Esprit III is an outstanding guitar. With a style that makes you feel old. Immediately we noticed the inverted headstock and three-pickup setup, reminiscent of Gibson’s reverse Firebirds and non-reverse Firebirds of 1963-66. Very vintage Gibson.
The body of the Esprit III is an Explorer/offset mashup type – made from Agathis wood, which provides extra density and strength. Making it suitable for building boats, it later became more popular with guitar builders.

The neck is made from Maple wood, Rosewood fingerboard and graphite nut. The neck is a C type, quite thick and has well-preserved fret work, and the Roller Bridge was intended to be used for use with the rod. Rock smoothly and reduce cable distortion as well.
The guitar is equipped with 3 stacked Wilkinson WP90 pickups (a 2-layer arrangement of pickups to cut the jingling sound) which has a Vari-coil knob that can be adjusted to make the pickups work half-single or Stacked freely and has a 5-way selector, giving us a guitar that is widely adjustable, flexible, covering all styles.But it’s very appropriate. • With its recognisable look, the Fret-King Black Label Esprit III has a reversed six-a-side in-line peghead and, as you can see, an asymmetric body. The Esprit III boasts versatility and features a long tenon set-neck construction, combining a three-piece centre block agathis body with fast-playing maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. The Esprit III comes equipped with three WP90 pickups, a vintage ’60s ‘Long Tail’ vibrato and signature oversized pickguard.

• Thanks to the reverse string tension and three stacked Wilkinson WP90s, there’s a big range of sounds to explore with the Esprit III. Use the Master volume and master tone to your advantage. The Wilkinson Vari-coil allows each of the stacked pickups to be rolled progressively back to single coil. The Vari-coil and five-way switch providew you with many permutations; Classic neck P90, that definitive bridge single coil, hot bridge humbucker, and more.
