Rock band LUNA SEA is extremely popular in Japan and other Asian countries. Its bassist, J, has used a variety of Precision Bass® over the years.

Among them, “Black Gold” produced by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Greg Fessler, who has received tremendous trust in stage and recording since obtaining it, will be limited to 25 copies in 2020 with exactly the same specifications as himself. It was released and became a big topic.

This time, we will release a model “Made in Japan J Precision Bass® Black Gold” that inherits the specifications made in Japan as a signature bass.

In addition to the reverse head that expresses J’s music philosophy, the original color Black Gold, which was inspired by the vintage helmet of the 70’s by J who loves motorcycles, is reproduced. This color, which looks different depending on the angle, gives various impressions depending on the stage lighting.

The one-piece maple neck profiled from the Custom Shop uses a 7.25 inch radius and narrow tall frets, and while following the grip of the 50’s, the nut width is kept to 42mm, enabling smooth performance even on long stages. It is a specification that is particular about making it.

In terms of sound, the combination of the ash body and the J Custom P Bass® Pickup, which was newly developed for this model, outputs a rich midrange that won’t get buried even when you drive it.

J’s signature model with uncompromising looks, playability, and sound. As a proof of that, the neck plate is engraved with J’s trademark Maria.
