TAMA began manufacturing drums in 1965 under the name “Star Drums”, and Star continues to be used in the names of TAMA’s drum models to this day. TAMA were one of the first manufacturers to offer super heavy-duty hardware, and drum mounting systems that did not intrude into the shell. Japanese metal star Yoshiki’s signature sticks are made to his specifications from American Hickory which has long been a worldwide favourite material for drumsticks
