The MIJ Hybrid takes the classic style and tones of a 50s P-bass and enhances it with modern appointments and comfort. The body’s shape features smooth contours and deep cutaways, letting your hands naturally rest against the bass and access the higher frets with ease. The neck has also been updated, swapping out the classic C-shape with a ”U” profile for additional comfort when reaching across the entire fingerboard.

High-Quality Tonewoods Provides an Enhanced Performance

Its selection of quality tonewoods not only provide you with a stable and reliable instrument, it also enhances the overall tone with additional depth and tonal diversity. Its alder body offers excellent resonance and balanced, keeping your sound clear when playing at high volumes. Fender have used alder as their tonewood of choice since the 50s as its balanced response and definition is ideal for rock and blues.

The maple neck and fingerboard on the other hand gives your performance a beautifully bright character. This is ideal for adding extra cut to your tone, letting you punch through dense mixes and deliver those stunning bass line. Maple also response well with strong picking techniques, injecting a sharp punch to your performance.

USA Vintage Pickup for that Vintage Fender Sound

The 50s Hybrid Precision Bass is fitted with Fender’s USA vintage split-coil pickup, bringing you the tones and performance of an original 50s P-bass. This pickup is designed to the specifications of the original, from its alnico V magnets, to the tolling and construction techniques for added authenticity. This method also gives each pickup its own unique sound for a truly vintage experience.

A great benefit of the split-coil pickup is its reverse wind polarity. This setup helps eliminate unwanted hum to keep your sound crisp and clean. Alnico magnets are also known for their focused sound and wide dynamic range, making them perfect for a variety of musical genres.

Classic Bone Nut

The additional bone nut not only adds to the Fender Precision Bass’ stunning looks, it also enhances the tone’s natural resonance and sustain. Bone is the perfect material for guitar nuts, featuring a long life and helping the overall tone remain balanced. This type of nut naturally self-lubricates, helping the guitar stay in tune for longer when compared to modern materials.

Fender ‘Made in Japan’

The Made in Japan series from Fender introduces you to the craft and style of Fender Japan, providing you with one-off runs that embrace Fender’s history. Fender Japan was first created back in 1982 to sell Fender guitars to the Japanese market. These were built in Japan to keep the price down to rival the Fender imitations that were being sold.

These Japanese productions were manufactured by FujiGen Gakki and marked as ‘Made in Japan’ (MIJ) until around 1992. It was then that production started moving to Tokai Gakki and Dyna Gakki, with these being marked as ‘Crafted in Japan’ (CIJ). It wasn’t until 2015 when Fender itself took over the Japanese line, bringing you a whole new experience with classic designs in its ‘Made in Japan’ guitars.

The History of the Precision Bass

Debuted in late 1951, the Precision Bass guitar was not only Fender’s first bass guitar, it was the world’s first bass guitar – a new kind of instrument. The Precision Bass (often shortened to P-Bass), has spent well over half a century at the very heart of music everywhere.
